SUZY KEATING
The Chicago 5K Lung Run honors Suzy Keating and the entire Keating family for their commitment to the event and their tireless efforts in bringing awareness and raising money for lung cancer research. The Keating Family has been the top fundraiser for the Lung Run for the past three years.
Team Keating joined the efforts of the Chicago Lung Run during its second year; the first year of my mom, Suzy Keating's NSCLC lung cancer diagnosis. We saw a postcard for the event at Rush Medical Center and thought it might be fun to get a few people together to attend the race. We put out the call and got 25 people from as far away as Virginia, Wyoming, Florida and California. We also raised $15,000.
We continue to participate every year and we've been lucky that Suzy has walked the one mile course every year. It's a testament to the research that's going on in lung cancer that she's been able to do that. But the fact that we never know which treatment will work or for how long is testament to the desperate need for MORE research. And to that end we are committed to continuing to raise money and awareness through the Chicago Lung Run every year.
